Barcelona is synonymous with art

Hotel U232 grants you easy access to seven of the city’s most important museums, with its special ART WEEKEND offer.

At just a fifteen-minute walk from the hotel, you'll find La Pedrera (Casa Milà), one of Antoni Gaudí’s most spectacular buildings, erected over a hundred years ago and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

The Eixample neighborhood is also home to the Fundación Antoni Tàpies, established by the artist of the same name, with the objective of promoting the study and appreciation of modern and contemporary art. The Fundación coordinates temporary exhibits, conferences, and film series.

In the National Palace building on the marvelous mountain of Monjuic, you’ll find The National Art Museum of Catalunya (MNAC), a repository of fine works of art in all genres (sculpture, painting, drawings, engravings, posters, photographs, and historical artifacts). Its mission is to promote and celebrate Catalan art, from the Romantic period to the 20th century.

Enjoying the privileged views and serene environment of Montjuic, you'll arrive at the Fundación Joan Miró, recently declared a museum of national interest for the relevance of its collection. It currently houses over 14,000 unique items: 217 paintings, 178 sculptures, 9 textiles, 4 ceramic pieces, and almost the entirety of Miró’s graphic art, encompassing some 10,000 drawings.

Back in the heart of the city sits one of the Barcelona’s most popular sites, the Picasso Museum. On display throughout five Gothic-era palaces, the Museum houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by this 20th century master. It is the primary reference point for Picasso’s early years and serves as testimony to the close relationship this artist maintained with the city of Barcelona.

Just ten-minute walking across the gothic quarter, you'll arrive to the Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona (MACBA), home to a significant collection of artistic creations made within the past fifty years. It also holds temporary exhibits and coordinates extensive arts and cultural programs.

Just steps away is the CCCB, the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona. This institution curates exhibits and hosts special events in music, film, dance, performance art, experimental art, and anything that falls under the broad ‘arts’ umbrella.

Hotel U232 gives you easy access to the city’s most important and best-loved museums.
